REPEAT DRIVING OFFENDER HAS CASE DISMISSED

16 April 2024

By Anthony Byrne, Principal Solicitor

(Sydney) - A client with multiple previous driving offences including various speeding and traffic offences has had his matter dismissed in the Downing Centre Local Court today.

After pleading guilty for a 'safety camera-detected speeding offence' in Sydney's CBD earlier in the year, the client was at risk of a lengthy suspension period. However, after returning to Court for sentencing with submissions carefully prepared by the firm's Principal Solicitor, Anthony Byrne, the Magistrate agreed that the offence was on the lower end of the scale of objective seriousness, and agreed to dismiss the case without conviction on this occasion pursuant to s 10(1)(a) of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act.
